My Top 3 Notorious Influencers
Look alive, help is in the palm of your hand – literally. This piece will share three influencers that you have access to right here, right now with the flick of a finger. The following are worthy of a skim through. They address; procrastination, overcoming limitations, discipline, dreams and much more…
Author of ‘Unfuck Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and Into Your Life’ Gary John Bishop aches to look his readers in the eye and get across the message ‘change is right in front of you and you have what it takes to grasp it and harness it’. This is a sincere book that ignited my desire to muddle about my head and become more aware of my living patterns. The message fueled my life journey and added countless miles on my path to creating OverCome The Ape. I highly recommend the book for anyone fighting with the voice inside your head. Gary is on your side and offers a multitude of ammunition to do combat with yourself.
“You have the life you’re willing to put up with.” ― Gary John Bishop, Unfuck Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and Into Your Life
Jocko Willink is a retired United States Navy SEAL. He is worthy of your google time. Willink host a weekly podcast that I often listen to. What draws me into the Jocko Podcast is Willinks ability to relate to his audience. He’s a Navy SEAL and his communication style invites you to realize he’s dealing with all the same shit we are. Willink openly shares that he deals with fatigue, procrastination, less than stellar days and the desire on occasion to not do a damn thing. But he gets shit done anyways, feeling like it or not. It humanizes him and motivates me. Willink does not bullshit, there are no participation ribbons in his world. If you need straightforward advice or motivation to get moving, give Jocko a listen.
“Don’t let your mind control you. Control your mind.” ― Jocko Willink, Discipline Equals Freedom: Field Manual
Gary irritated the hell out me the first time he popped up on my screen. He was arrogant, a braggart and yet, I couldn’t look away. He even irritated me more because he was right and I knew it. Gary is an over the top entrepreneur hell-bent on buying the NY Jets and shares his experience and advice for free on a multitude of media formats. Gary releases an obscene amount of content much of it geared towards motivating you to sink your teeth into life. He is passionate, energetic and much of his content strikes at the core of dreamers and people hungry to experience life. GaryVee is directly responsible for my OverCome The Ape launch. I had been working for months planning OverCome The Ape, trying to perfect it and figure out every angle. And then I came across one of Gary's videos. He said something like “stop planning shit and start doing shit! Suck at it but start! Get shit done, stop thinking about it and actually do it!” That night I created the OverCome The Ape site and haven’t stopped. Gary is not everyone’s cup of tea - but he doesn’t care.
“You have to understand your own personal DNA. Don’t do things because I do them or Steve Jobs or Mark Cuban tried it. You need to know your personal brand and stay true to it.” – Gary Vaynerchuk
