Hi.

Hello, my name is Joshua Moore. Welcome to my blog. I write about life and its grind. Hope you find inspiration here as you overcome the ape.

You Will Never Feel Like It

You Will Never Feel Like It

That purpose you feel deep within, the destination you were born to fulfill, the feeling that you can make a difference in this curious world is a well-placed piece of cheese on a mouse trap. If the satisfaction of your future greatness gratifies you while no effort is being put forth to rein in your future greatness the mouse trap already has you. You may be relaxing to the sound of a future success flying by only to bear fruit to those that are willing to grind while you daydream. Your brain will fool you every day of your life, it will lie to you about your future just for the chance to rest, watch TV, have a drink, take time to do nothing. Your brain will say; we’ll start tomorrow or on the weekend or after the holidays, it's too cold outside, it's raining so we’ll wait for a sunny day, or any number of excuses to get you to minimize effort.

Effort takes energy and let's face it, after a grueling 8, 10 or 12-hour shift you will not feel like grinding to any future expectations of yourself. The desire to relax is so intense, its nearly impossible to overcome. But you can overcome fatigue, exhaustion and a variety of other physical and emotional barriers we all face daily. I have no idea what will inspire you, motivation is like a mirage in the distance, you can see it but its impossible to get to. Motivation tiptoes around silently and occasionally strikes with solid effectiveness. For me, habits work. I'm so used to working long hours, working out, cooking dinner and enjoying family time and then getting back to work again that I feel off if I don’t complete my habits full circle. If you want habits, you will have to force yourself into a bit of pain and suffering until it hurts to try and stop the habit. You will have to do what you do not want to do. It sounds odd, but you will feel good doing what you don’t want to do. After you create the habit you’ll never want to stop, you’ll want it, you’ll find a way to make “it” happen.

Don’t wait for inspiration, you will wait forever. Don’t wait for the right time, the time is now. Don’t wait until you feel ready, you may never feel ready. No exceptions, no excuses, no regrets. Overcome the ape.
