Are you suffering? Pinned down by a job that crushes the soul out of you while demanding your utmost attention and time with no regard to your life? I imagine it kind of feels like slowly dying. The desire of your spirit is drifting off one way while your daily grind slaps you in the face to keep your attention. Are you losing your soul? There is a great chasm between spirit and profit, very rarely do the two ever meet. I assure you – you are not losing your soul. It just feels like it.
You have an itch that needs to be scratched so scratch it! If your daily grind is boring you to death or stressing you out to an unhealthy level, start paying attention to that inner voice. The voice that tugs at your core and says there’s something more to life. A lot of people can tune the voice out or crush it all together but if it beckons you and it never fades, do something about it. Create massive change for your life in a way that embraces who you are. If you’re a painter deep down inside then paint, if you’re a writer then write. Whatever the case, if you have a voice that won’t quit year after year, you ought to do something about it. Regret is looming in the future if you don’t.
Maybe attending to the voice pays off maybe it doesn’t. A lifetime of attempting to accomplish what you feel driven to do will be more satisfying than a lifetime of ignoring who you are. You may well make more money in a steady 9 to 5, working for a company comes with benefits and can pay well. You can even find endless examples of people that followed their passion and regretted it every step of the way. But you can also find endless examples of people full of life because they live their passion. If you have that itch that won’t go away, won’t allow you to feel right no matter how well you provide for your life and family, you may need to create a detour of your life to feed your soul. We all have this one life, this one shot to experience the world as we desire. Get unstuck and feed your soul. Bigger regrets come from not trying.
